“We are thrilled to participate in btww every year - starting the day on the bike is such fun, healthy and a wonderful environmentally friendly opportunity for our communities. Happy pedaling!”

Nadine Secord, Gabriola Community Health Centre, Gabriola Island

The Salt Spring Adventure Co. was thrilled to sponsor Bike To Work Week! We believe as a company that it is important to do all that you can to reduce your environmental footprint.  Salt Spring is a great place to use alternative means of transportation, whether it be a bicycle, on foot, or by kayak. Our climate is forgiving throughout the year and everybody should do their part to ensure our island stays beautiful!”

Yvonne Poirier, Owner-Operator, Salt Spring Adventure Co.

“Thank you for organizing this! I never would have biked to work, as I would have thought it was too far and would take too long. I think you would be pleased to know that of the only 3 of us that participated, we have all committed to continuing to bike to work!”

Crystal Federico, Revelstoke Credit Union, Revelstoke

I have participated in Bike to Work Week over the last few years, and every year it seems to get bigger and better. I am a regular bike commuter, biking to work over 90% of the year, but I like BTWW as it gets more people out of their cars and into a healthier mode of transport. It gives bikers a more community feel as they pass each other on their way. Powell River is the perfect city to bike in, short commutes and low traffic, make biking efficient and manageable.

The morning ‘fueling stations’ are my favorite BTWW activity, the coffee sponsors are great, the volunteers are great, and thanks to Taw’s for doing the bike tune-ups.”

Patrick Devereaux, Forest Technician, BCTS Strait of Georgia, Powell River

Thanks to all the sponsors who donated to help make Bike to Work Week happen, with prizes and all the wonderful breakfast goodies! Starting my morning in the fresh air is the best way to start (especially when you are off to work!) Thanks to everyone who has worked so hard to make Bike to Work Week such a success!”

Kimbery Swaney, Wheatgrass Café/Whole Foods, Penticton

I would probably never get on a bike if it weren’t for Bike to Work Week. I had not been on a bike for over 12 years. Now I am hooked. I even borrowed a Bike to do this. Great Event.”

Sharon Tyndall, Participant, Penticton

I love riding my bike everywhere because it is like a free gym membership and good for the environment too. My muscles have never been so toned.”

Elena Tilton, Participant, Penticton

“I would like to thank all the people who work so hard to make this happen. I have been a participant for three years. I think this is a wonderful way to encourage more people to bike as a form of commuting. I enjoy meeting people from all over Penticton. Again thanks so much for all your hard work.”

Olivia Swaney, The Gym, Penticton

“I am riding to work today, sun is out, sky is blue.

I can hear the birds chirping, and bunnies are peeking out through the long grass.

I am looking at the different flowers growing on the side of the path.

As I slip past them, my blood is pumping. I have a smile on my face.

Out of the blue a huge eagle soars over my head. It was so close I could see it’s talons.

I would have missed all that if I was in my car.”

“Bike to Work Week is a great opportunity for HUB volunteers and advocates to meet cyclists for whom we are working to improve conditions.  We get to hear firsthand about challenging sections of cycling routes and the joy people have with cycling.  It’s rewarding to know that our efforts are making a difference. Cyclists love getting free refreshments provided by HUB and its sponsors at the Celebration Stations and they show their appreciation.”
