Bike to Work Week encourages people to sign up and commit to commuting to work by bicycle for a week. Active transportation to work promotes healthy lifestyles, increased physical activity and prevention of chronic disease as well as provides positive economic and environmental impacts including saving money on gas, reducing vehicle emissions and reducing our collective carbon footprint.
Held May 30 June 5, Bike to Work Week is an exciting community event that encourages everyone to try cycling by providing resources and support for new and continuing cyclists. Bike to Work encourages employees to create workplace teams and log their cycling commutes to win prizes and compete against other local organizations.
If you are interested in organizing events such as “buddy rides,” celebration stations, and noon time rallies or other exciting ways to encourage participants to bike to work let us know! We hope people will bike to work not just for a day or a week, but always – making cycling a viable commuting option.

In 2016, Bike to Work Week Kootenays is proud return to our tradition of being the only "community" to fundraise for a local not-for-profit society in conjunction with BTWW. This year we are raising funds for the West & East Kootenay Brain Injury Association (WEKBIA).
West & East Kootenay Brain Injury Association is a small community organization and the only brain injury association serving the entire Columbia Basin/Boundary region. The organization depends on community grants, donations, and fundraising to continue to provide services. We are asking for your help to collect online pledges to aid them in continuing to provide much needed supports and services to the individuals and families in our communities who are living with an acquired brain injury.
Funds raised in the East Kootenays will support WEKBIA programs in the East Kootenays; funds raised in the West stay in the West - so please ensure you sign up to fundraise for your specific region.

We will be engaging in a fun little EAST VS WEST fundraising challenge to see who will come out on top as our fundraising champion!
And we have prizes, prizes, prizes - when you registrer for BTWW Kootenays you are eligible for random draw prizes and there are additional prizes for those who chose to fundraise.
