Bike to Work Week

Kootenays & Southern Rockies

June 11, 2015

Bike to Work week has ended and I would like to thank all Team Leaders and everyone who volunteered at our Celebration Station on Saturday, May 30th.  It was a huge success. We had lots of prizes given out, bike decorating, Kootenay Cycling showed us how to spin, and a display of the new bike park being built in Castlegar.  There is still one prize to be given away. Awarded to the person who rode the most KM in the week.  Peter Wan, congratulations you rode 479 km to work and back. I will contact you with the details.

~~I have been biking to work for a number of years. This is my first year with the "Inspiring Wellness" BTTW team that is run through Teck Metals - Trail Operations. What a great way to inspire people to get out and exercise. Trail Ops has covered bike parking and locker rooms to shower up after a ride. Not only can I bike my hybrid to work, I also have my on site one speed cruiser for getting around the site. There are a number of employees that have company supplied one speeds and a few trikes for those that pack tools around. Great for efficiency and exercise.
