Oak Bay wins Local Government Challenge - 40.7% Participation
"Saanich’s Annual Bike to Work Week Local Government Challenge saw on average 25% employee participation of the local governments who participated on the roads and trails, as they made their way to work. Participating were Oak Bay, North Saanich, Langford, CRD, Esquimalt, Central Saanich, Victoria and Saanich. In Saanich we have our Directors of Planning, Engineering and Parks and Recreation who participated, and even our solicitor. With these senior staff out there it brings a good sense of understanding as Saanich continues to build and improve our cycling networks.
This year we were pleased to present the trophy at the CRD Board Meeting in July to Mayor Chris Causton of Oak Bay. Oak Bay had an amazing 40.7% participation rate. Congratulations Oak Bay and we look forward to next years challenge. Congratulations to the Bike to Work Week Society for again, putting on a great event. See you on the roads and trails this summer."
