2009 Bike to Work Events
Bike to Work Week 2009 - May 11-17
Bike to Work Week is being held two weeks earlier in 2009 to coincide with events across British Columbia. This change also aligns with National Bike to Work Day in the United States! This way we all get to put our resources together!Check out this link for a detailed schedule and map.
You can also download posters, Team Leader information and lots more!
Celebration stations are exactly what they sound like – a "celebration" of cycling and the health, wellness and fun benefits that go along with it.Every day during Bike to Work Week, celebration stations will be held in strategic locations throughout Greater Victoria.
- Free food and refreshment
- A local bike mechanic
- Prize ballots
- Treats provided by sponsors
- Fun!
Some of the most exciting events to watch out for are:
Kick-off Trailside Breakfast - Monday May 11
South end of the Selkirk Trestle. Join us for fresh coffee, baked goods and organic fruit courtesy of our local sponsors. Commuter Challenge—car vs Bike Race - Thursday May 14
Simple yet powerful! This friendly "race" requires a cyclist and car driver to begin from a common point and aim to arrive at the Serious Coffee at 1280 Broad St (near Yates) between 7:45–9am. Participants must follow all rules of the road, legally park and pre-register. Wrap-up BBQ—FREE! Friday May 15
Join us at the North end of the Selkirk Trestle. Enjoy tasty meat and veggie burgers and top it off with melted cheese generously supplied by our sponsor Save-on-Foods! Bring a friend, family or the whole workplace team. This final celebration is a fantastic ending to a tremendous week of events.
Bike to Work Day—October 2009
For regular commuter cyclists and for those who get started during Bike to Work Week, Bike to Work Day is a great milestone to aim for. Once again we will be holding two fun stations with plenty of great coffee and goodies! Keep those wheels turning all summer long and into the fall!
