Car Vs. Bike Challenge - Monday, May 28, 2012
Who Who will win the challenge - the car or the bike - on Monday, May 28?
To answer the question, City of Vernon has challenged local media, who will travel by car, to record which is faster - the car or the bike! Transport Canada stats prove that for trips less than 5km, cycling is a faster method of transportation. For two years in a row the cyclists have won!
All cyclists in the area are invited to participate. Dr. Backus, president of Bike to Work-BC believes, “that cycling to work is one way of making your wasted commute time become valuable to you personally, and helps the environment! Studies have shown that bike-commuting employees are significantly happier, healthier and more productive”.
