Flat Repair and Safety Clinic offered by Outdoor Addictions

On Wednesday May 19 staff from the VIHA Public Health Unit participated in a Flat Repair and Safety Clinic facilitated by Dan Clements of Outdoor Addictions. Why you ask? They are getting ready for this year’s Bike To Work Week, May 31-June 6. At this clinic they learned how to change a flat tire, the essentials for riding to work and how to do a pre-ride safety check on their bikes.

Bike Fit: Power to the Pedal!

It’s that time of year again: May 31 to June 6, 2010 is Bike to Work Week. As an avid cyclist, I am a firm believer that bike commuting is about more than simply getting from A to B without burning fossil fuels. When pedaling to work, each morning presents a new adventure—from battling the elements, to choosing which route to take, to saluting fellow cyclists along the way.

One Heck of a Family Adventure

As soon as the cold and gray days of winter recede into their northern refuge, Canadians feel the urge to get outside. For many of us this means going camping. The average camping trip begins with the Herculean task of packing and loading up the van, SUV, trailer or 5th wheel with as many households goods as our vehicles can possibly hold and driving to our favourite piece of paradise.

More than half way done!

We are more than half way through Bike To Work Week and it has been a lot of fun.  We have seen riders all week long, biking through rain, sleet, sun and wind- way to persevere Campbell River!

We had a lot of visitors out to the Celebration Stations
