BC Bike to Work Week Successes
Inspired by the Bike to Work Week model developed in Victoria, the following communities have developed exciting Bike to Work Week programs for residents in their area.
Kelowna, BC. Following a Bike to Work Week Workshop in 2004, Kelowna planned its first Bike to Work Week event with astounding numbers - 838 participants & 314 new cyclists. They have continued with this event which is steadily gaining momentum. In 2007, more than 1,234 total participants & 238 new cyclists registered to pedal in Bike to Work Week.
Vancouver Area, BC. In 2007, the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition organized a successful Bike to Work Week event for all of Vancouver. More than 3,500 participants including 911 new cyclists registered to ride to work!
Abbotsford, BC. Following a workshop presented by Bike to Work Victoria, the Abbotsford Cycling Action Group organize the first official Bike to Work Week event for Abbotsford in 2007. Off to a great start, this community counted 132 total participants & 52 new cyclists.
BC wide, BC. Other communities registered teams with Bike to Work Victoria. While these communities have not yet planned "official" Bike to Work Week events, this didn’t stop 150 cyclists and 24 newbies from registering to ride!
